Self-worth and Improvement!!

Self worth is something that I am sure that everyone struggles with. It seems like someone is always better than you. Prettier, funnier, more out-going, better at a sport, nicer, more fun, or happy and the list goes on and on. Comparing yourself to others sucks. It leaves you feeling less-than. The basic advice many give is "stop comparing yourselves to others." This is a great message but WHAT A CHALLENGE THAT IS. It is honestly difficult to walk through the hall ways without looking at someone else and being jealous of the way they look or act or who their friends are. IT'S HARD. I KNOW. But listen, stop trying to find worth in earthly and temporary things and start finding your worth in JESUS because He loves every hair on your head for God made you PERFECTLY in his image. (Genesis 1:27)

As I look back in my journal entries of the last couple of months, so many of the topics are of how I am let down and don't feel good enough for anyone. I know the feeling when you don't get the outcome you've expected and you are felt WORTHLESS. The smallest of things just built up and have made me feel as a small frail flower who constantly gets stepped on and is unnoticed.

WHO AM I?
I want to be the girl who is kind, selfish, patient, and Christ-like, but EVERYDAY I fall short. So I think to myself, WHO AM I? This is a question I think that we should ask ourselves often. It reminds us that we are all different but are ALL worthy of everlasting life in Jesus! When I think of this question, I want to point out all of my flaws as many of us focus on as individuals. But this gets me ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE. Start focusing on the wonderful and beautiful qualities God gave you. Sure, thoughts of all your "flaws" are going to pop up in your mind but we all got to learn to LOVE THEM! Most likely, we are stuck with these qualities for the rest of our lives so we better start accepting them. So yes, I may fall short of Jesus every single day but He tells us that WE ARE ENOUGH for Him. He chose YOU to die for! I am going to try my hardest to make him proud and love myself. MAKE JESUS SMILE. Who am I? Who are we? We are children of Christ and He lives inside of us. He is kind, selfless, and patient and we will strive to love ourselves. We will strive to be like Christ.

STOP IGNORING YOUR CUTE QUIRKS AND OWN THEM
Honestly sometimes I just want to cringe at myself for the things I say and do, but then I think, "this is who I am; am I gonna own my personality or try to cover it up because of what others may think?" This is when people eventually become someone they're not and try to become someone "cool" that everyone is going to accept. They fall into the social trap. "Be yourself" is the clichést of all clichés. What does it really mean? If you think about it, it literally means what it says, BE YOURSELF. There is only one you in this whole entire sea of 7 billion. Learn everything about yourself and start loving all those qualities and improving. By accepting the person you really are, you will be able to grow, improve, and realize that everyone is different. When you accept the way you are, it will also help you understand that everyone is trying to accept themselves and it will help you better accept others. You may not like a certain quality of someone's, but hey, that's them and you can't change that. But let this encourage you to realize there is no one in the whole universe exactly like you and I think that is so cool!! WE ARE ONE OF A KIND and God made us all individually and flawlessly; let's OWN IT.

So I leave you with this: you are strong, kind, and worthy of all of the love in the world. The world may constantly knock you down and tell you that you are not enough but TRUST ME, you are ALWAYS enough for our Lord and He is with us!!! Love yourself, be yourself and ACCEPT the way you are. Make sure you are reminding yourself about this every day. "I am who I am and I LOVE MYSELF"  AMEN!
